Inter Medya announced today that MIRACLE IN CELL NO. 7 has been added to its feature film catalogue, filled with an already broad selection of local hits. The Turkish movie MIRACLE IN CELL NO. 7, distributed worldwide by Inter Medya, has been receiving a huge surge of interest across the globe. The movie was first released in Turkish theaters on October 11, 2019 and instantly became a box office smash hit. The film, watched by millions of moviegoers in Turkey, recently reached new audiences worldwide. Streaming on Netflix, the movie is the number one at the service’s Top 10 trending movies in the US and in France at the moment. Inter Medya’s newest Turkish title MIRACLE IN CELL NO. 7 is a remake of the very popular 2013 South Korean film of the same name. The movie, set during the early 1980s during Turkey’s coup d’état period, tells the heartbreaking story of Memo, who lives with his beloved little daughter and grandmother in an Aegean town. With a mental deficiency, Memo is a shepherd who is happy in his small world. In 1983, when he is framed with the murder of the martial law commander’s daughter, his life is turned upside down. He is sentenced to death penalty and gets locked up in the seventh ward, where he has a small chance of staying alive. While everyone is seeking justice, Memo and his daughter Ova’s only wish is to get reunited.
“MIRACLE IN CELL NO. 7 is an important addition to our catalogue with a huge potential for both theatrical and linear distribution. We are currently in conversation with a number of clients around the world and hope to close some deals in due course,” explained Can Okan, Founder and CEO of Inter Medya.
