Wild Women of Anatolia is a sensorial documentary exploring freedom, belonging, and resistance through the lives of five women from different regions of Türkiye. Four generations of women tied to land and labor in the Black Sea region; Aslı, who keeps a historic coffee business alive in Istanbul; Hira, who surrenders childbirth to the rhythm of nature on the Aegean coast; Hatice, confronting memory and belonging on the high plains of Muş; and Arya, fighting for visibility and equality in Ankara. Each woman is portrayed together with the landscape, memory, and social realities that shape her life.
The film listens not only to their personal stories, but also to the nature, traditions, pressures, and dreams surrounding them. Fire, water, earth, and air emerge as poetic symbols, creating a connection between the women’s inner worlds and the places they inhabit.
Beginning with the question, “What is your dream of freedom?”, the documentary reveals the courage, vulnerability, and transformative strength of women who do not fit within society’s imposed boundaries. Wild Women of Anatolia is a powerful, nature-bound portrait of womanhood, bringing together different voices of Anatolia in one shared breath.
